Autumn Books for Speech & Language

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year. The changing seasons, colors, and fall holidays all make for wonderful topics in speech therapy. Parents can ask retell questions, sequence story events, and practice speech sounds while reading.

Below are suggestions of fall books. Happy reading!

  • “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves,” by Lucille Colandro

  • “The Scarecrow's Hat,” by Ken Brown

  • “Fletcher & the Falling Leaves,” by Julia Rawlinson

  • “Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn” by Kenard Pak

  • “The Scarecrow,” by Beth Ferry

Readers: What are your favorite fall books?
