Day of the Dead is a celebration in Latin and South America on November 1-2. This tradition honors loved ones who have passed away. Day of the Dead is an interesting topic to study while incorporating speech and language goals. I love selecting books from the local library for younger students and studying the holiday's history and origins with older students. During reading, children can practice speech sounds, make inferences, and answer comprehension questions. Older children can discuss the holiday's origins.
