Fun and Effective Ocean-Themed Speech Therapy Activities

Whether you're a parent looking to support your child's speech development, or a speech therapist seeking fresh ideas to make therapy sessions more enjoyable, this collection of activities is sure to make a splash! Let's embark on an underwater adventure where speech meets the sea.

1. Ocean Bingo

Play a Bingo game with ocean animals. This hands-on game not only enhances speech articulation but also improves vocabulary and categorization skills. After placing their chip on an animal, children can practice their sounds, name the category, and describe attributes of the animal.

2. Treasure Hunt

Create a scavenger hunt where children search for hidden "treasures" while practicing specific speech sounds or language targets. You can hide objects with target words written on them or engage in a verbal treasure hunt where children describe the items they find using their speech skills.

3. Ocean Crafts

Engage in creative expression with crafts. Provide materials for children to create their own ocean-themed artwork, such as coral reefs, fish, or dolphins. While crafting, encourage answering questions about the artwork, describing with adjectives, and following directions incorporating prepositions.
