Owl Book List + Extension Activities

Learning about owls is a fun way to target speech and language goals. Families can talk about where owls live, their habitats, and research fun facts about the animals. While reading, parents can ask comprehension questions about the story and have their child retell the story in their own words. For a fun arts and crafts project, consider making a diorama of their habitat, which can incorporate following 1-2 step directions, verbs, and adjectives.

Below is a list of owl books. Happy reading!

  • “Little Owl” series, by Divya Srinivasan

  • “Owl Moon,” by Jane Yolen

  • “The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark,” by Jill Tomlinson

  • “Knight Owl,” by Christopher Denise
