Books are a wonderful way to target speech and language goals. By reading to your child, you can build understanding by asking wh-questions and “why” questions, or work on retelling a story to include key details.
Many stories are also loaded with speech sounds, and hearing many repetitions of these sounds will benefit your child.
Below is a list of some of my favorite books to read in winter:
Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
The Mitten by Jan Brett
The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats
Snowmen at Night by Caralyn and Mark Beuhner
Winter Dance by Marion Dane Bauer
