Veteran's Day is a wonderful topic for speech therapy in November.
Speech and language goals can be incorporated into lessons focused on honoring veterans for their service. Parents can ask comprehension questions and work on speech sounds during reading or discussion.
Below are suggestions of extension activities:
Learn About the Military - Talk about the different branches of the military and learn about the training required. Children can work on answering questions, comparing and contrasting, and learn new vocabulary.
Write a Letter to a Veteran - Fill out your own letter and thank a veteran. This is also a fun way to practice grammar.
Practice Speech Sounds During Reading Aloud - Model these sounds for your child, and then have the child say the words back
